Ashtanga


The Ashtanga method is system of learning Ashtanga vinyasa yoga that empowers yogi’s to develop their own, strong practice. The traditional way to learn Ashtanga vinyasa is in a Mysore style class. Students practice at their own pace through a set series of asanas that are memorized by the student. The teacher gives one on one instruction that meet each individual’s needs. Led classes bring new and experienced ashtangis together to refine their practice further with detailed instruction on movement and breathe for the group.

The Ashtanga program at NAYC is an extension of the Ashtanga philosophy and practice developed by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India in the early 20th century. Our program is growing with dedicated instructors striving to share their knowledge with the community. Our class offerings will evolve as the community grows.  Mysore style classes are offered Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday,Friday and Sunday mornings. Led primary series classes are offered Thursday and Saturday mornings. See the schedule here.
